ROME - "Peace now!": A call for the resumption of dialogue between the Colombian government of President Juan Manuel Santos and the FARC guerrillas, promoted by the Sant'Egidio Community, was signed by eminent international personalities including two Nobel prizes, and will be shown to the press on Wednesday by president of the Community of Sant'Egidio Prof. Marco Impagliazzo.

Peace talks between the government and FARC have taken place in Cuba since October 2012 according to an agenda agreed by the parties. Now, despite the problems that have arisen in the negotiations, "peace is possible" - says the appeal - and “will be a sign of hope for all". "We welcome - continue the signatories - the fact that the current government and the guerrillas have decided to look for formulas of understanding for a negotiated solution to this long and unnecessary confrontation".

In recent years, the Community of Sant'Egidio, present in Bogota, Medellin and other locations in Colombia, has followed with keen participation the evolution of the situation constantly encouraging dialogue between the parties.

The press conference by President Marco Impagliazzo

for the submission of the appeal will be held

on Wednesday, 12 February at 12:00 pm
