The mentally disabled and happiness

The mentally disabled and happiness

People who are mentally disabled are capable of being happy and giving happiness to others.

They are happy when they are in a climate of friendship, esteem and solidarity. The mental handicap does not necessarily represent an obstacle; it can even become a different way, deeper and more sensitive, of seeing the world. It is not a stigma or a condition which is in itself unhappy. The unhappiness of these mentally impaired people often depends on being excluded and isolated, refused by society.

Living together with them is an enriching experience and can develop a deeper understanding of life. The mentally disabled often understand what is most essential in life. This understanding isnt always able to express itself but is often manifested in relationships with others.

The mentally disabled and happiness

The mentally disabled can give a precious contribution to our society and can create important changes in mentality and culture. They show us that it is possible to be happy in any condition of life if surrounded by friends in a trusting and open minded atmosphere. They are a reminder of the values of disinterested solidarity and friendship without which it is impossible to live life to the full.
