He was ordained priest in 1975. Since July 2008 he’s Bishop of Frosinone-Veroli-Ferentino. As a scholar of Sacred Scripture and biblical spirituality, he has taught at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome and at the Theological Faculty of the Pontifical Urban University, where he has been Rector for a long time. He has published many scientific papers on theology and biblical spirituality. Since May 2010 he is the Chairman of the Commission for the Evangelization of Peoples and the Cooperation between Churches of the Italian Episcopal Conference. In May 2011 he was appointed by Benedict XVI as a member of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. |
