Peace is always possible and Albania is about to launch a strong message to the Balkan region swept by old and new violence but also to both Europe (who found its unity under the ruins of walls and recently is building new ones) and the entire world, who is looking at the many recent conflicts with pessimism.

The International meeting of the major religions that is starting this Sunday in the Albanian capital will address the world leaders, the people and in particular the young generations. It is an invitation to stop all the wars and help establish everywhere a welcoming environment towards many who flee their countries looking for safety and shelter from persecutions and misery – even risking their lives in the flight towards Europe.

On behalf of the European Union, Erol Akdag expressed that the safeguard of peace, the protection of human rights and the promotion of democracy are not to be taken for granted and need to be continuously nourished and sustained by everyone’s active commitment.
