"Peace in Iraq is possible: the only way is the reconciliation, founded on the citizenship of all and supported politically".

This the plea of the Patriarch of Babylon of the ChaldeansLuis Raphael I Sako, during the roundtable dedicated to Iraq, which has occurred today as part of the international meeting "Peace is always possible" organised by the Community of Sant'Egidio.

In the presence of the religious world leaders of the country, the Patriarch has invited to "not stay imprisoned in the past" because "it is not the time to accuse each other but to find solutions together". Patriarch Sako has also asked everyone's help in building peace: may the common concern for the civil population translate to "a common responsibility to build the future together".
