"Opposing the terrorist violence of Boko Haram movement that seeks to establish the caliphate in the north-eastern part of Nigeria." This is the proposal of the religious communities of the country, represented in Antwerp at the XXVIII International Meeting of the Community of Sant'Egidio on the theme "Peace is the future". "Victims of violence must be defended", said the president of the Community, Professor Marco Impagliazzo, at the press conference to present the event. "After the failure in Iraq, where Europe and the Western world have not figured out on time that the breakup of the state would hit especially minorities and the most vulnerable sectors of the population, we must avoid such a scenario to open in the heart of Africa.

During the meeting, a panel will be dedicated to the Nigerian situation. Besides Cardinal Onaiyekan, other participants will be Imam Muhammad Ashafa, Pastor James Wuye of '"Interfaith Mediation Center", Catholic Archbishop Ignatius Ayau Kaigama, president of the Episcopal Conference of Nigeria, and the Emir of Wase Mohamed Sambo Haruna.
