He started his studies in Sarajevo and completed them in Cairo, at the prestigious Al-Azhar University. He has developed his religious ministry in many seats of the world such as United States, Malaysia and Croatia.
He got a Ph.D. in Islamic Studies at the University of Chicago and he is professor at the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia).
Gran Muftì of Bosnia and Herzegovina since 1993, he is member of the European Council of Religious Leaders, established in 2002. He is also a member of the World Conference for Religions and Peace.
He has received awards for his commitment to interfaith dialogue and to peace such as the prestigious award UNESCO Felix Houphoet Boigny.
