During the celebrations for the centenary of the evangelization in Northern Uganda, Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, opened in Adjumani the house of the Community of Sant'Egidio dedicated to John Paul II. Also present were several bishops.
Great joy and singing accompanied the opening of the house. In the very year in which we celebrate the centenary of evangelization in North Uganda, this new house opens its doors to the many who want to live as Christians, being friends of the poor and working for peace. The new house will host the Schools of Peace with the Ugandan and Sudanese children who live in the surrounding villages and it will also serve activities with several elders followed by the community in the area. On Christmas Day it will host a Christmas Lunch with the poor so that Christmas may truly be a day of celebration for everyone.
