This year the traditional festival of the city was celebrated in a new way. In fact, the elderly, the homeless and young college and high school students gathered in the centre of Kiev for a party entitled "Cities for the poor, cities for everyone."
About a hundred people in all, composed of homeless as well as of elderly people, gathered in a park on the historic city’s hill. These are the people who are usually being given dinner by the Youth for Peace, who distribute meals in the streets, squares and subway stations during the week.
The party picnic was followed by a concert interspersed with speeches and testimonies.
The message of the party was clear: the city will have a better future only if it is a common future for all, especially for the poor.
