Mons. Vincenzo Paglia, the president of the Pontifical Council for the Family, visited Belgium on 26-27 May 2014, on the occasion of a conference in Liege on the subject "Christian family? The Gospel of the family in a globalised world. Towards the synod
of the family".
At the end of the work, he went to the synagogue in Brussels to express his solidarity and closeness to the Jewish community after the bombing of the Jewish Museum in Brussels last 24 May.
He greeted the Chief Rabbi, Albert Guigui, and the President of the synagogue, Philippe Markiewicz. Mons. Paglia's visit was held in the presence of a delegation of the Jewish community of Rome, led by President Ricardo Pacifici.
During the visit, Vincenzo Paglia stressed the importance of dialogue and encounter to disarm all extremism that can threaten living together in Europe and in the world. |
