The 41st round of peace talks in Mindanao, which is defining the details of the peace plan, was concluded a few days ago.
In the statement that concludes this round, the parties recognise the importance of the role played by the International Contact Group, of which the Community of Sant'Egidio is a part (along with the Muhammaddiyah and two other International Associations), to promote the understanding and advancement of the negotiations that have come to the discussion of very specific issues, such as the allocation of water and the resources of the autonomous territories.
The talks were suspended to enable the Muslim delegates to celebrate the feast of Aid el Adha, and they will be resumed in the coming weeks.
