On Friday night, a group of youth of the Community of Sant'Egidio of M'Batto, a small town in Côte d'Ivoire a long way from the economic capital, Abidjan, was travelling to Ouelle, another small town in the interior of the country. The small coach they were travelling in went off the road. Seven youth of the community were killed, including the driver and the front seat passenger. 13 others were injured, some of them very seriously. They were all very young, mostly high school students. The closeness and solidarity of the entire Community of Sant'Egidio, in Côte d'Ivoire and throughout the world, immediately arrived at the small community of M'Batto, and the Ivorian institutions were also involved, including the Ministry of Health that offered its aid for the transportation and care of the youth to the hospitals of Abidjan.
The entire Community of Sant'Egidio joins these brothers, with grief and prayer.
