Seyfo, in Syriac “the Sword”, or the slaughter that many do not now about. It happened a century ago, together with the one better known of the Armenians, and despite the lack of knowledge and weak memory, was equally an infinite tragedy for tens of thousands of Christians from the Syriac, Chaldean and Assyrian Churches. Concentrated in the current region of southeastern Turkey and northern Iraq, these Churches and their peoples experienced great suffering during World War I, from that 1915 that marked the beginning of the slaughter of Christians at the boundaries of the Ottoman Empire.

On June 19 and 20, Seyfo was remembered in Rome during a conference with the participation of important representatives of the Eastern Churches, victims of persecutions one century ago - that led to a drastic decline of the Christian presence in the region - and with some of the leading experts of a history that can not be forgotten.
