Last 26 June, a delegation from the Presidency of the Republic of Ivory Coast visited the Community of Sant'Egidio of Abidjan. During the interview, which lasted more than one hour, the head of the delegation, Mme Jeanne Peuhmond, responsible for the Social Affairs of the Presidency (pictured on the right after signing the guest book), spoke with Georges Adon and other representatives of the Community of the value that Sant'Egidio represents for the country.
A wide-ranging conversation that touched, in particular, the living conditions of street children, the literacy in the most populated and difficult slums and the new project of attention and support to the elderly population that is starting up in many cities in Ivory Coast.
Mme Peuhmond thanked the Community, on behalf of the Presidency, for the work that it develops in favour of the poorest classes of the population, emphasising the essential trait of "gratuity" and she encouraged Sant'Egidio to continue the work of reconciliation and accompaniment of peace that "it has never ceased to carry on in all these years" - even in the most difficult moments - with the network of cohabitation and interreligious dialogue that it has managed to build. |
